In the Rooms..

Beast

We had one of those rare sunny days last Sunday.

Celine and Jin joined us for brunch, then we headed to 'Come Up to My Room' for some inspirational installations. I'm always amazed by the kind of things our local artists come up with.

We bumped into many uwsa grads and students. GroundWork, which is formed by uwsa students participated in the show this year. Their wall installation turned out beautifully. I'm loving the shadow effects.

I think a snow storm is coming our way..
Thanks for your comments on the last post! Some of you asked about the mittens. If you happen to visit Canada, you can find them in The Bay, or here.

harbourfront

I haven't been in the blogging mood at all this week, but it's Friday (yay!), I have to post something.

I took these photos the past weekend at the harbourfront. I rarely go to that part of town only because it's covered with high-rise condos and not much interesting things could be found there.

Although, with the waterfront revitalization project underway, we might see the neighborhood differently. Those wavy board walks are my favourites.

What's your waterfront like?

Happy weekend!

on the weekend and my forgetfulness

Thank you for all your comments from the last post, I'm so encouraged to take more film photos now! I love hearing from all of you.

The long weekend was very sunny but I only got some gray shots, because I forgot to put my charged battery back in my camera before I went out on Friday. I was really mad at myself.

p.s. A goat cheese tart recipe I tried over the weekend. Delicious, but took me half a day to find all the ingredients

p.p.s an epic 100 metre long photo

new friends

I walked through a part of the neighborhood that i haven't been to before, and found these cute animals. They're friendly.

The huge elephant in someone's front yard made me giggle. I have to say it's the best pet to have on your front lawn.

I'm enjoying the sunshine these days, i hope you are too!

Friends and Brunch

Ezra's Pound

Weekend is always the high-light of my week, because of the extended sleeping hours and most importantly bacon and eggs.

If you follow The 4417 Mile Diet, you should already know how much Gabe and I love brunch, but instead cooking our own we went to the Hoof Café with a couple of good friends. This tiny restaurant serves high quality meaty brunch, which we sure would like.

We were told the wait would be 45 mins, so we went over to Ezra's pond for coffee and chit chatted, the coffee is strong and delicious, much reminded of the many many cappuccinos I've had in Rome.

The wait ended up being an hour and half..but the meal was well worth it.

Gabe said it is now he's favourite brunch place. What's yours?

I'm in love with the bar cabinets there, I'd like those to be in my kitchen.

sunday lights

sunday light

I woke up under these light shining through my east facing window.
I quickly rolled out of bed and took these photos.
Having this much of sunlight during the winter times is such a gift.

How was your weekend? I hope it was filled with sunlight for you too.

a calm weekend

blackberry buttermilk cake

Last week has been crazy, humid, hot, and stormy.
Luckily the weekend was beautiful.

I stayed in on Sunday, did a little packing and made a delicious blackberry buttermilk cake. Oh and I ate it with buttermilk ice-cream!

buttermilk is a magical ingredient.

oh brunch

condiments

What's better than waking up on a Sunday morning and fill your stomach with eggs and bacon?

Brunch is definitely one of our weekend must-dos!
I went to Mildred's Temple Kitchen on Sunday and had the best brunch. It wasn't your usual brunch, both food and price wise. Yes, you should expect to spend a little bit more in Mildred's than other brunch place, but it's totally worth it!

Make sure to go and try their yumminess if you're in Toronto.

niko

I'm dropping by here for a bit, to show you some photos from the weekend.

+I got to start on a laptop sleeve for traveling in Rome.
+Jess's Dog Niko is the cuttest little dog I've ever met. Look at her button eyes!
+The garden is in full bloom, I especially like these purple lilies.

How was your weekend?

Boogie Woogie

I've finally made my way to a cottage after living in Ontario for 4 years.
It was an amazing experience like no others!

We spent the weekend on a private island called Boogie Woogie just north of Bancroft.

It wasn't a typical cottage weekend, because other than all the chatting, playing and eating, drinking we were also ripping down scaffolding, putting in soffits, painting walls ect. for a new cottage of Lauren and Jon's for their new generation.

I'm back home now. Oh..how I wish I could capture the the tingling stars and show you the milky way in the calm sky! I miss it already.

Luckily I brought a piece of the island back with me. It's makes me happy.

B for Bubbles

The thunder storm woke me up this morning, I was not very happy, but these guys on my window sill cheered me up. Don't they look like they're so excited for some new adventure??

Soon after that, like I wished for, the sky was cleared up, and I was ready for some bubble battle!

I love seeing bubbles against the blue sky.

canada's wonderland

My family are visiting me in Toronto!

We made Wonderland our first family outing along with a few of my girl friends. It was a cloudless day and lots and lots of people were there to enjoy this gorgeous weekend, but we were able to get on some crazy rides and scream our lungs out.
I'm getting to like roller coasters :)

long weekend

I had a long weekend, so I decided to help Celine out on Jin's big birthday party. We were packing up prizes, chopping up food, chatting, laughing, it was a really relaxing afternoon. And see how adorable these prizes turned out to be? That's why I love wrapping gifts so much! The party turned out great on Saturday. More photos to come on that one.
I went to the new Don Mills outdoor shopping mall to check out the newly opened McEwan's gourmet grocery store and Anthropologie! I love outdoor shopping centres, they make me feel like I'm still living in California! Oh, but the best thing of the day was I got to try Macorons! These things are so heavenly delicious, I wish I could make them myself.
p.s. I made some changes to the blog, hope you like it!
