Chelsea+Darren

Chelsea+Darren 02 03 04 Darren+Chelsea 06 07

Happy new year to all of you! I haven't been very diligent with blogging, something about winter just makes me really lazy..Over the holidays, I went on a trip to Beijing to attend my dearest friend Chelsea's wedding. I've known Chelsea since the first day of 10th grade, and Darren since 11th grade, so I ought to be the 3rd happiest person to see the two of them finally tying the knot after being together for 9 years!

Last year when I visited LA, I had the intention to take a few engagement photos for them. I wasn't the most comfortable under my skin with a camera at hand, since I had never done such thing on my own. We took photos in downtown LA with the warmest sunshine and shared a great time, but I decided I wasn't very happy with them when I returned home. I never took another look at them until I got back from their wedding. This time, I had realized maybe I was a little too judgmental of myself. Although they're not the best images out there, they're sincere representations of their relationship and love for each other.

I'm glad I decided to give this set of photos another chance, and after a few tweaks, I think I'm quite happy with the way they are.

an evening walk

I don't normally process my photos. Almost every photo you've seen on the blog are straight out of my camera, but just last week, I've installed Lightroom, and thought I'd give it a try.

Here are a few photos from a recent walk around Gabe's neighbourhood that are shot in raw format, and processed with slight exposure adjustment, graduated filter etc.

There's quite a bit to learn still, but I like the outcomes so far.

Hope you had a good weekend.

0086

Today I want to share with you an attractive Chinese magazine.
It's called by the name of <<0086>>, China's international dial code.

The Images above are from an issue called <I Love Beijing>, featuring Beijing's old and new neighborhoods, local artists, and the latest culture, etc.

I haven't seen the actual magazines, but by just looking at the images on the net, I already love it, especially the photographs.

1st

I found a pack of polaroid film at Annex Photo today! $30! That's as expensive as the camera!
I was so nervous when I was trying to load the film in the SX-70, because if I do one thing wrong this pack of expensive could be ruined..But it worked! It was such a relief when the camera buzzed and ejected the dark slide.

The first polaroid turned out blurry though. The room was dark, and the camera decided to take a 1 second exposure. I blame it on the over excitment and my shaky hand!

I really hope polaroid films would come back

curling up at home

Saturday: cloudy, and extremely windy.

I didn't want to go out today at all, since the weather is so crappy..but i needed to get fabric for sewing class, so there I went, and was literally pushed to the fabric store by the wind. haha

Did I tell you I finally decided on the colours fro the granny square blanket? I got some inspirations from Madrepadre (via Make Something), and that's what I've been working on for the most part these days. I gotta make 16 of 26x26cm squares and patch them together, so I have a LONG way to go!

I've done a good job keeping myself busy this weekend! I made the wafers I said I was going to make last week. they taste really good with ice-cream!

I'm heading to the Oneofakind show tomorrow morning with Pui. I'm hoping to find some cute spring accessories.

I Miss You Santa Monica

I came across these cute engagement photos taken at the Santa Monica pier by Max Wanger today...then I realized, "ohh! i really miss Santa Monica!" As much as I hated LA, Santa Monica still has its place in my heart, well only its downtown and beaches area really, but that's good enough.

Eating Fat Burgers with Shirley on the beach making every girl there jealous of us was the best time ever!

p.s. the lollipop ring idea is so genius, Wanger takes such playful photos

My Type of Girl

Eleanor Hardwick
15 years old
photographer
Born and raised in Reading, England

I found Eleanor through N.E.E.T Magzine (it's free!), and I fell in love with her work immediately. They're my type of things, corky, romantic and are touched with a tone of darkness.

Simply Wonderful..

Home Sick

It's a rainny weekend. I hate rain, it gets me moody. It reminded me of Vancouver, the wetness and the mild temperature. I miss home.

I've been sorting some old photos these days. It's amazing to see one grow and change through time. This is my little brother Eric at Liberty Island ferry terminal in 2005. He was doing a little dance while we were waiting for the ferry. Yeah..He's not as cute as back then anymore. haha

Meet Rob&Lauren

I've been reading Rob&Lauren's blogs for 2 days now, trying to catch up the ones I didn't read about before I got to know about them. I have to share it, because the photos they take are absolutely adorable and engaging!

Rob and Lauren are such cool people! they travel and they shoot, then it became a business. They don't have any professional trainings in their back pocket, so everything is solely built upon a strong passion that they both share.

I, too, want to accomplish something similar at some point in my life..
but..but i'm still confused..eek!
